Haley discovered the James Bay Community Project after a music class her son attended was canceled one morning. Since then, they have been attending the playgroup through the Family Resource Centre and have just fallen in love with the program.
“We come back as much as we can!” Haley said.
From the facilitators to the other family participants, Haley strongly feels that the playgroup is a special place where she and her son are welcome.
Haley is grateful that the snacks provided during the playgroup are both healthy and thoughtfully prepared. She shared that her son always feels special when offered snacks in the group.
“They really think of everything here. It’s just a place you want to be,” she said.
Like many others in our community, Haley faces the challenge of providing meals for her family. Having access to food security resources has alleviated some of the stress of rising grocery expenses for Haley’s family.
“Getting food donations has been super helpful. It’s so hard to have the time or money to make a healthy pot of soup,” she shared.
For Haley, the playgroup is more than just part of her son’s routine. It’s a place where her family is welcome and can rely on for support.
