Parent & Child Groups

This intergenerational program is open to seniors & families with children. No music experience required. Learn to use percussion instruments to keep the beat, learn songs, dance and more!

This is a great social opportunity for families and seniors in our community. Increase your well-being and resilience while connecting with others in your community.

Free! Must be able to commit to all eight sessions. Space is limited. Please register in advance.

Program Info

When: October 1 to November 19

Day: Tuesday

Time – there are two different time slots available:

  • Group 1: 10:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m.
  • Group 2: 11:15 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

  • For families with babies up to 15 months. It is an opportunity to play and connect in a relaxed social setting.
  • Tuesdays from 12:30-2:00 p.m.

  • A free, registered 8-week group for new parents and their babies up to 10 months.
  • Come and learn some fun songs, rhymes, fingerplays and a little bit of storytelling.
  • Wednesdays from 12:30-1:30 PM and runs throughout the year (groups start in January, April, June and September).

• A free, registered 10-week informal discussion group with guest speakers on baby-related topics. Fun and friendship for new parents and their babies up to 6 months.

• Thursdays from 12:30-2 PM and runs periodically throughout the year (New starts in January, April and September).

Children’s Play Groups

  • Monday to Friday (unless otherwise noted)
  • 9 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.

  • Families can register for up to two playgroups per week per family.

Youth

This afterschool club for youth provides space to explore creativity while learning emotional regulation techniques and coping strategies. Snacks provided.

Advance registration required. Free!

Program Info

Day: Mondays*

Time: 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

*Not offered on school closure days (i.e.: holidays, Pro-D, inclement weather)

Family Support

Family Outreach workers can offer information and one-to-one support to children, youth, parents and families with children from birth to 19 years in James Bay, Fairfield, Oak Bay and Central Victoria.

  • Advocacy and support regarding challenges
  • Information, referrals to community resources
  • Help navigating systems
  • Mediation between teens and parents
  • Parent support and mentoring
