The James Bay Community Project (JBCP) welcomes its new Executive Director, Mary Lee Crocker, who began in January this year. Mary succeeds the exceptional Kaye Kennish, who led the organization with dedication, compassion, and wit for 13 remarkable years. Kaye’s leadership has left an indelible mark on JBCP, and she will be deeply missed by staff, volunteers, and the broader community.

Mary brings a wealth of experience in humanitarian and nonprofit work, with expertise in program design, leadership, and fund development. As a proud resident of James Bay for over a decade, she is deeply committed to the mission of JBCP—building resilience through connections and strengthening community. Her passion for impactful work and her strong ties to the neighbourhood make her an inspiring choice to lead JBCP into its next chapter.

The leadership transition coincides with JBCP’s 50th anniversary, a significant milestone for the organization. For half a century, JBCP has served as a hub for connectedness and resilience among the people of James Bay and its nearby neighbours.  The anniversary year will be a time to celebrate and honour these achievements while focusing on the future, continuing to strengthen community ties and build a more resilient neighbourhood together.
